Mech Reviews: Bad Company 2
I have just finished BC2,
As far as game mechanics i have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it. The shooting feels good, the enemies are smart enough to cause trouble and the graphics are very pretty.
Even if your allied characters exhibit a little bit more personality than your usual shooter it never feels fleshed out enough. They are also dumb as a rock and never seem to be able to kill any enemies unless they are scripted to do so!
The villains are walking bad-guy stereotypes but since they do not have that much dialogue you can shrug it off.
No work whatsoever went into the achievement naming process. It just quotes random lines which i found extremely annoying.
Nobody does explosions like Bad Company, and the destructible cover makes you sincerely fear for your life. Checkpoints are very sparsely placed so be prepared to replay huge chunks of the game. This also makes you play more conservately, which i always find is a good thing.
To sum up. Not the best game of all time, but enjoyable.
Mommy… Peter Moleyneux is promising us the world again
And i am buying again…
Anyone excited about alpha protocol?
This trailer makes me a little bit excited.
Stupid Super Powers
Well 3 out of the 4 upgrades in Halo reach are actually useful… the other one.. well virtual shackles explains it quite well

I am a total fan of TDU 1, not only for the racing, but the free roaming and car delivery missions…. so TDU 2 has me soooo pumped!
Mech Reviews: Just Cause 2
I have been playing just cause 2 for almost 20 hours now. And even if i quite enjoy the mechanics and the visuals of the game the story is quite lacking.
The voice acting is terrible and the missions suffer from a lack of creativity. They confine you to doing things a single way, creativity usually is punished by death.
Developers were probably scared of breaking the game if they gave you freedom to tackle missions however you want. Too bad…
Outside of missions however the game shines. Airplanes and helicopters are fun, explosions are awesome and Rico controls extremely well. Navigating the island and discovering secret locations is a game onto itself. This is the sort of game you pick up and play for an hour, then get bored then pick it up again and have a blast.
Should you buy it? Not at full price but when it hits the 20€ mark yes.
Belgerog Reviews: Bioshock 2
![]()
I’ve recently finished the game. The beginning was good, as the new stuff was introduced. For some time, however, the game became repetitive, in each level you find the three little sisters, kill their protector and get them to harvest bodies for ADAM while you defend her from any splicers.
Of course that wasn’t all there was to do in the game, the plot moved forward and you met new enemies, found new plasmids and guns. Simply going through all the very detailed and beautiful levels would have been enough for Bioshock 2, so it’s a strange decision to put the exact same task of gathering ADAM on all different levels, multiple times. You’re not forced to save any little sisters, but I’d be surprised to find someone who went through the game without doing that, since you’d get less plasmids. You feel compelled to go through the same process on each level, and that breaks the pace of the game. It sometimes felt too much like grinding.
The things the game does well were enough to take me to the end, which was great. The last part doesn’t have any ADAM harvesting, you just go through a series of amazing sequences, which I won’t describe for the sake of spoilers, with a lot of upgraded weapons and high level plasmids, including the level three lightning, that makes you feel like the emperor in Return of the Jedi. The whole game is worth it just for the end.
I loved the weapon upgrades in Bioshock, and they’re very good in this one too, what excellent idea to make what could have been simple spreadsheet upgrades into some very cool modifications to the 3D models of each gun.

I did not think i would have gotten excited for a western game. Only Rockstar can make something as non geek as the old west seem so awesome!
